castles and books

As a child, I was an insatiable bookworm. In fact, most days you could find me curled up in a chair with a book and my huge (covered half my face) glasses. I remember toting home huge bags full of books from our castle of a public library. It looked like a castle on the outside and it was my favorite place as a little girl. I would have lived there and lost myself in all of the stories it held.

Someday I want to pass down my love of reading and imagination to my own kids. I love the idea of a book shower for a new mom and having guests bring one of their favorite children's books with a handwritten note inside for the new baby. This would be a great way to start a collection of books that will be cherished for years to come. In my opinion, one book would be much better and stimulating than 10 loud, obnoxious, brightly colored toys.
These book invitations by Jordan would be a great way to convey the theme of the shower. Read more about a book shower here. Images found here and here.

Me too!

The best day of school was when they sent around the book order forms and I'd get to sit down with my mom and pick out which books we'd order
