recipe upgrade

{comfort in a bowl}

Growing up and during our first year of marriage, I loved making mac and cheese.  However, the recipe I'm accustomed to uses copious amounts of Velveeta, and to be honest I have no idea what that stuff is!  So, to avoid using a "cheese-like substance," I turned to my old friend, the Barefoot Contessa, for a serious recipe upgrade.  I loved the cavatappi pasta (and omitted the tomatoes on top).  I have to say this made a ridiculously amazing meal, and there's no going back now!

funny I was just thinking today I wanted a mac and cheese recipe that did not call for creepy velveeta. Thanks for doing my work for me!

Mmm... can't wait to try this, I've been searching for a good mac and cheese recipe myself! I recently tried one with cauliflower as a "creamy" substitute - that did not cut it! :) I can't wait to try this one, can't go wrong with one of Ina's recommendations!
